Got back from a lovely hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. If you have not been I recommend that at the very least you take a drive through. It is perhaps one of the more beautiful parts of New England. A friend of mine invited me to tag along with his girlfriend and some other friends to hike the Falling Waters Trail (another good page).
We hiked up Mount Haystack for about 3 miles, a good 2000 assent. At that point you can just go back after enjoying the view, but we opted to cross over the ridge to Mount Lincoln and continue on to Mount Lafayette and return to the base on the Old Bridle Trail. Total distance is a little over 9 miles. Even with breaks we managed to do the whole hike in 6.5 hours. I’m a bit sore and sure that I will pay for the exertion.
I posted some pictures in my gallery if you would like to have a look.
