No sense of humor

Apple apparently rejected an iMix entitled “One to Tango: Songs With a Masturbation Theme” because it was in “poor taste”. The Cult of Mac Blog has the source story. And here I though that you could share any experience via the Internet.

Miramax films was contracted to distribute the new Michael Moore film “Fahrenheit 911.” Disney, which I just found out bought Miramax 10 years ago (very sad), decided that it did not approve of the film and pulled the distribution. There is a clause in the purchasing contract that allows Disney to block films that it deems are “against its interests”. The full story is at BBC news. Think what you will of his work, the man in entitled to his opinion. Freedom of speech can not be invoked here as the issue is between two private parties (it is legal for private parties to relinquish constitutional rights). From the economics side Moore’s last film “Bowling for Columbine” made some good coin and got tons of press. Seems that Disney looks at more than the bottom line. In my opinion this is simply legal censorship. I do hope that Mr. Moore can find a way to release his film in the “free” United States of America.
